I am feeling deeply grateful to all the beautiful souls that I was lucky to cross paths with on my journey. So many friends, hosts, drivers and simply strangers showed great kindness and compassion to my wandering spirit. We shared lovely moments together talking, walking, cooking, drinking, hiking, hitching, laughing, dancing in the rain, smoking, getting lost and being found in each other’s company. New encounters and all interactions have enriched me in some way and I am fondly looking forward to paying off this huge amount of goodness to the universe. I hope I will find the best way to do that soon. Meanwhile, I would like to remind us all to never underestimate people, never underestimate how kind and compassionate one can be even towards a complete stranger. The warmth and goodness of one’s heart travel far. It might be difficult to remember it in a highly competitive consumerist society of today. However, we must cultivate our belief in the good that always wins over evil. If someone has hurt your feelings or you are having a bad day, week or month, remind yourself “This too shall pass” and remember the greater appreciation of the good times will follow.
With this post, I would like to join the Hindu community in India, Nepal and other countries who on this day are celebrating Dussehra, a festival to the victory of good over evil. I was thinking of writing a post about kindness for a few days and somehow I have done it on Dussehra. Everything happens for a reason. Be open and aware to see the reason.
