Every kilogram of fat gained requires 25 kms of new blood vessels

Do you know how hard you make your body work for every extra kilogram you gain? For each kilo of fat gained, the body has to add around 25 kilometers of new blood vessels! 25 kms – that is quite a distance; it would take you more than 4 hours to continuously walk that, after which you would probably feel really exhausted. Your body adds those 25 kms of new blood vessels without you even noticing it.

New tissue needs blood supply, so your vascular system expands to accommodate it. This means your heart must work harder to pump blood through the new network, which may reduce oxygenation and nutrient replenishment in other tissues. While you keep your body busy building new tissues for those extra kilos, who would be catering to the needs of your good old body parts?

This might be a good question to ask yourself before indulging into another ice-cream =)
